How To Level A Garden

There are easy steps to follow to level a garden. These steps will achieve a levelled and beautiful garden.

Mark the Area

You can start to level a garden by marking the area first. You can mark the area you want to level by using a carpenter leveller or string. Using the leveller is much easier; you have to place it over the uneven spot and check the bubble. Marking the focus area will help you know how much you need to lower or raise the ground.

If you want to use string, get four pegs and drive into the unlevelled ground in a square. Then connect the string to the pegs. It will help you determine how much soil you need to add or reduce to make the area even.

 Water the Soil

Watering the soil will help soften it, thereby making digging and removing grass much easier. Use your water sprinkler to sprinkle water over the area you want to level. Add enough water to lighten the soil to make working on it easier. But ensure you do it moderately. Adding too much water to the ground can make the soil soggy, making it difficult to work on.

If the spot you are levelling is small, you can use a rake to flatten the area or stomp your foot on it to make the soil sink in. stomp your foot on the area till it’s levelled. If the level spot is large, you can rent a compactor and use it to flatten the area. The compactor will make the work easier and faster.
